Swept away by Time

A GIANT FALLS

The old Cochin Bridge across the Bharathapuzha at Shoranur is under threat of being washed away. The bridge, constructed by the East India Company during the British Rule to connect Malabar and Travancore, had collapsed on November 9, 2011, and was being preserved as a monument. Vehicular transport through the bridge has been suspended since 2003 as a new bridge was constructed nearby.
